It’s been six months since Takeoff’s untimely demise. While the hip-hop community mourns, his partner in crime, Quavo, is suffering greatly. Though he has kept a low musical profile since then, Huncho has been hard at work in preparation for his sophomore studio album. He recently confirmed that his upcoming solo album, Rocket Power, will be a tribute to his late nephew and best friend. Given that the album is a tribute, the title is perfect for the offering.
The North Atlanta rapper took to social media today (May 23) to update fans on the album’s release date, stating that it will be “coming soon.”

“Rocket Force. The album will be released soon. “This album is for the Rocket and our fans, and it’s also my therapy,” he explained. “This album is an accurate reflection of how I am feeling right now.” “Sometimes I’m good, sometimes I’m down, sometimes I’m disappointed, sometimes I fall apart, but I ALWAYS regain my strength,” he added. “Things may not be right now, but the Rocket showed me a way to make them RIGHT.” Rocket Power is what keeps me going. Rocket Power provides me with fuel. Rocket Power will assist us all in overcoming whatever we are facing. “Rocket Power,” he declared.
For good reason, Quavo stated earlier this month that he will not be conducting interviews for the project. This appears to be one of those albums where fans simply enjoy it for what it is and reflect on loved ones who are no longer with them. Regardless, the album will undoubtedly be a fitting tribute to Take. There is no official release date or tracklist for the album, but stay tuned for more information about Quavo’s upcoming release.
Takeoff, rest in peace!
