Reddit has just made it much easier for users to search for comments on posts.
Reddit announced a few months ago that users could search comments across Reddit(Opens in a new tab) on all platforms — but it was cumbersome. Users could only search for comments across the platform by using the comments tab in the search bar; they could not search for comments within a post. That procedure has been improved. Reddit announced on Monday that users on desktop, iOS, and Android can now search comments within posts.
Whether you’re looking for the hottest gossip on your favorite housewife or tips on travel to Slovenia, you can now search the comments within Reddit posts. Try it for yourself today. 🤌 pic.twitter.com/uIrAexlHuQ

“You no longer have to ‘cmd-f’ on the posting page, and you can search comment threads without expanding them,” u/anon-axoltl, one of the site’s mods, wrote in a post(Opens in a new tab). If a post has a large number of comments, using “cmd-f” or “ctrl-f” doesn’t work particularly well if those comments are collapsed. “No more long scrolling sessions — quickly get to the parts of the conversation you’re looking for and jump in where you want.”
It works pretty much exactly as you’d expect. On your computer, look for the search bar that says “Search comments” next to the “Sort By” drop-down below the comment box. When you’re on a post, click the magnifying glass icon in the top bar and search from there.
