According to a Sudanese doctors’ union, rockets hit a market south of the capital Khartoum on Wednesday, killing at least 17 people and injuring 106 others.
This is the highest number of people killed by shelling in an attack on the capital since fighting began on April 15 between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The attack occurred as peace talks broke down between the US and Saudi Arabia.
“The Mayo area [Market 6] witnessed violent and bloody shelling this afternoon, which left 17 people dead and more than 106 wounded,” the Sudanese Doctors’ Syndicate said in a Facebook post.
It brings the total number of civilian deaths in the conflict to 883.
