Saudi Arabian Football Federation says Frenchman’s contract terminated after his request
The Saudi Arabia National Football Team’s head coach, Herve Renard, has resigned, according to the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF).
SAFF stated that the board of directors agreed to terminate the Frenchman’s contract upon his request.
A legal settlement to end the contract was reached, according to the statement, and the president and the federation wished Renard success in the future.
Renard confirmed his departure and thanked fans and everyone who helped him along the way, with footage posted on SAFF’s Twitter account.
The Saudi Arabia team led by Renard stunned the world by defeating Argentina’s Lionel Messi-led team 2-1 in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Argentina went on to win the tournament.
Renard, 54, has two AFCON titles to his name, with Zambia in 2012 and Ivory Coast in 2015.
