According to Relevo, a Saudi delegation has arrived in Paris to try to finalize the signing of soon-to-be free agent Lionel Messi.

Several developments have occurred in relation to the 35-year-old, who will be released from his contract with Paris Saint-Germain on June 30.

SPORT reported on Saturday morning that Al-Hilal sources told them that the Saudi club hopes to announce Messi’s signing on June 6.

Messi then confirmed to ESPN that he would leave PSG before the club officially announced his departure in a statement.

Messi played his final game for the Qatari-backed giants in the evening and was booed by sections of the Parc des Princes crowd after missing a close-range chance in a 3-2 loss to Clermont Foot.

Messi’s father and agent, Jorge Messi, previously stated that a decision on his son’s future would be made when the Ligue 1 season ended yesterday.

In the same letter, the Argentine patriarch denied reports from El Chiringuito and AFP that Messi had accepted a colossal offer from Al-Hilal.

However, with Messi’s 2022/2023 season bookended, Relevo reports that a Saudi delegation traveled to Paris on Sunday to finalize Messi’s transfer.

According to the Spanish outlet, FC Barcelona is Messi’s top choice for his next destination, but the Catalans are experiencing delays in La Liga approving their financial viability plan.
