DJ Khaled and Sizzla’s friendship is on the rocks.
The Jamaican reggae musician is allegedly angry because his frequent partner “insulted” him, and he’s venting his resentment by setting fire to his plaques.
Sizzla broadcast a series of videos on Thursday in which he burns the platinum discs he was awarded for his work on Khaled’s albums Father of Asahd and Grateful. He may be seen in the videos disassembling the framed plaques piece by piece.
The pile was then set on fire, and he watched it catch fire. “DJ Khaled, you made fun of me. You defame Jamaica, “Sizzla remarked.
He made care, nevertheless, to take out the pictures of Khaled’s son Asahd. “This will do as my plaque, please. Holding up pictures of Asahd, whom he referred to as his “godchild,” he remarked, “Babies are innocent.
He didn’t specify why he burnt the plaques, but it might have to do with how he was acknowledged. “Presented to Sizzla to mark RIAA platinum certification of more than 1,000,000 copies of Father of Ashad” is the line that bears his name in a little type near the bottom.
Khaled and Sizzla have worked together on a number of tracks over the years, including “Holy Mountain,” “I’m So Grateful,” and “These Streets Know My Name,” which is on Khaled’s most recent album God Did.
On each of his albums, Khaled has featured a dancehall song with popular Jamaican musicians like Bounty Killer, Buju Banton, Mavado, Capleton, and others.
He discussed his enthusiasm for everything Jamaican with Grammy.com in an interview from the previous year.
“I listened to dancehall music growing up and mixed it with hip-hop. I used to dwell primarily in Miami and Jamaica when I was a young child, Khaled recalled. Dancehall and Jamaica both play a part in my story.
