2023 has proven to be a remarkable year for Rihanna, marked by the joyous arrival of her second child and her continued role as the creative director of PUMA. Adding to the excitement, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong recently revealed a stunning wax figure capturing the essence of the celebrated songstress.

The wax sculpture replicates Rihanna’s iconic 2020 look from New York Fashion Week, where she celebrated the success of her Fenty Skin line being available at Bergdorf Goodman. The figure portrays her in an eye-catching orange sweater dress adorned with a matching trench coat. Completing the ensemble, the “Needed Me” sensation dons a pair of metallic boots and stylish gold chains.

Mr. Wade Chang, the general manager of Midway Hong Kong, Merlin Entertainments, expressed, “Rihanna is an incredibly captivating artist, and through the introduction of her wax figure, we aim to convey her spirit of constant breakthroughs and unwavering determination. We hope that every guest visiting Madame Tussauds Hong Kong will create unforgettable memories from their experience.”

Today, PopBase created a buzz on social media by sharing news about the unveiling of Rihanna’s wax figure. Given the controversies surrounding celebrity statues this year, the accuracy of this wax figure has captivated many. Users expressed their excitement, with one stating, “The first wax figure of a Black person that [I’ve] seen be 100 [percent]accurate.” Another user praised Madame Tussauds, saying, “Madame Tussauds does it again! Excited to see the new Rihanna wax figure. A stunning tribute to an iconic artist.”

Adding a touch of humor, someone quipped, “At this point, I think the wax figure would release new music before Rihanna herself does.”

It’s worth noting that Rihanna has not released an album since 2016’s ANTI. The album featured hit tracks like “Consideration” with SZA, “Kiss It Better,” “Work” featuring Drake, and “Needed Me.” The anticipation for her next project has grown, especially as Rihanna has been focusing on her ventures in fashion, beauty, and motherhood.

In 2022, she contributed “Lift Me Up” to the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. Prior to that, Rihanna collaborated with Drake on the remix of N.E.R.D’s “Lemon” in 2018.
