Those bullying allegations against Meghan Markle aren’t going away.
Valentine Low, author of “Courtiers: Intrigue, Ambition, and the Power Players Behind the House of Windsor,” tells Page Six exclusively that the palace aides who resigned after alleging bullying by the “Suits” alum are sticking to their guns.
“Everyone I spoke with is still sticking to their story, claiming Meghan bullied them,” he says.
“Of course, I can’t speak to the truth of that because I wasn’t in the room and haven’t heard Meghan’s side,” he says. “However, my sources continue to stick to their story.” The Times of London reported days before Markle and Prince Harry’s explosive 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey that the Duchess of Sussex occasionally brought staff members to tears while living at Kensington Palace.
According to the UK newspaper, two senior members of the palace staff were allegedly bullied into leaving their jobs.
Jason Knauf, the couple’s communications assistant at the time, reported the behavior in October 2018.
“I am very concerned that the Duchess was able to bully two PAs out of the household in the past year. “The treatment of X* was completely unacceptable,” read the HR complaint.
“The Duchess appears to be intent on always having someone in her sights,” Knauf allegedly added. “She is bullying Y and attempting to undermine her self-esteem. We’ve received report after report from people who have witnessed Y’s unacceptable behavior.”
“I remain concerned that nothing will be done,” he added. The Palace later announced that an investigation would be launched, but that the results would not be made public.
According to Low, Knaupf sent the email to his boss, Simon Case, and labeled it a “very significant” move.
“They obviously don’t want to pick another fight with Harry and Meghan,” Low speculates. “[The Palace] received a lot of flak from us, the media, for not releasing it.”
The royal couple, who resigned as senior working members of the royal family in January 2020, has categorically denied the allegations.
In fact, Prince Harry revealed in his new memoir, “Spare,” that Markle was an exceptional boss who “checked on staff who was ill, sent baskets of food or flowers or goodies to anyone struggling, depressed, or off sick.”
She also “bought pizza and cookies, hosted tea parties and ice cream socials” for the team.
Surprisingly, Low does not consider it “terrible” that the couple is no longer working royals.
“It was like a divorce,” he says. “There are contentious divorces and amicable divorces. This was acrimonious, but it didn’t have to be that way.
“Harry and Meghan are partially to blame. I believe they act like teenagers, that they are naive and stubborn. They did not get along with the royal family. Also, I believe the royal household as a whole did not handle it well because they did not see it coming.” “It could have been handled so much better. “It didn’t have to be this way,” he added.
