This morning, the Grammy nominees were revealed, and Summer Walker was one of the notable omissions. Even though the R&B singer’s 2021 album Still Over It was a critical and financial success, it was not nominated. Summer’s supporters called out The Recording Academy after noticing the snub.

Every award show has been leaving Summer Walker's "Still Over It" out of the R&B categories. And I'm mad about it.

The snub has now been addressed by Summer herself, who shared her sentiments in her Instagram Story. She expressed gratitude to her fans for their unwavering support rather than venting her rage at the Grammys.
The math is literally not mathing when it comes to the Grammys, she continued. “I was going to post some stats, but it’s okay; at least the people on the streets like me. Thanks for the support I do get; you guys always turn up in droves to my shows.

Summer did win her first Grammy nomination for Album of the Year for her work on Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, so it wasn’t a total loss. On the song “Purple Hearts,” summer is mentioned. This is not the first time that Summer has gone unrecognized by the Grammys. She also didn’t garner any nods for her 2019 debut, Over It.
Along with rappers like Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion, other R&B singers including Ari Lennox, Brent Faiyaz, and Kehlani were surprisingly left out of this year’s nominations.
At the 65th Grammy Awards, Beyoncé is nominated for nine awards, followed by Kendrick Lamar and Adele. Latto received her first two nominations for Best New Artist and Best Melodic Rap Performance, while GloRilla received her first nomination for Best Rap Performance.
