ELLE Magazine published a new feature with SZA on Wednesday (May 31) that provided candid details about her life and career thus far. One of the main topics was the success of her sophomore album, SOS, and its accompanying tour, which the TDE artist admitted she was concerned about at first.

“Would the rest of my tour dates have been sold out if the first three shows of my tour had gone poorly?” She inquired. “Would those people be waiting in line outside by the time we got to LA?” No. It only takes three poorly shot TikTok videos to decide that this tour isn’t worth coming to see.”

She went on to discuss cancel culture and how fame is “all really fickle.” “I know people don’t love me because love is truly unconditional, and I’m one scandal away from being canceled indefinitely, just like everyone else,” the chart-topper explained. “I’m grateful that they like my art and that it speaks to them, and that it connects and tethers us all together in this strange way.” It’s cool, but it’s also a string that could be severed at any time.”

In another segment of the interview, SZA discussed her widely publicized Brazilian butt lift, which she sang about on the album’s title track. “I treat my butt like it’s a purse,” she joked. “It’s just there to complement whatever else is there.” And that’s why I paid for it: it works on its own.” The “Kill Bill” singer stated that she did not have the surgery due to “industry pressure,” but rather because she “succumbed to her own eyes in the mirror” and “always wanted a really fat a** with less gym time.” SZA’s full interview with ELLE can be found here.
