Tallulah Willis recently came up about her heartbreaking experience with her fiancé breaking up with her less than three months after her father, Bruce Willis, was diagnosed with dementia.

“In June of last year, my boyfriend, who was by then my fiancé, dumped me.” This news comes after the 29-year-old actress got engaged to filmmaker Dillon Buss in May 2021, only to call it quits in June of the same year when her family learned of Bruce’s illness.

Tallulah boldly revealed that she was already dealing with many mental health concerns during that trying time. “I was struggling with a variety of mental health issues at the time,” she admitted, citing body dysmorphia and a borderline personality disorder diagnosis. Furthermore, she had fought and overcame difficulties with ADHD and anorexia nervosa, which had caused her weight to drop to an alarming 84 pounds.

Tallulah expressed her appreciation for her family’s aid once they interfered. “My family stepped in, sending me to an in-patient facility in Texas, where I was introduced to a variety of therapies.” Their intervention aided her in her healing and recovery path.

Willis opens up about her father’s health

Tallulah delves deeper into her personal experiences and concerns about her father’s health in a poignant piece for Vogue. She claimed that the symptoms began with “a kind of vague unresponsiveness.” Her family attributed it at the time to “Hollywood hearing loss.”

“Later that unresponsiveness broadened, and I sometimes took it personally,” she said of her feelings during that time. He had two children with my stepmother, Emma Heming Willis, and I assumed he was no longer interested in me.”

With his ex-wife Demi Moore, Bruce Willis has three daughters: Tallulah, Scout (31) and Rumer (34). He and his current wife, Emma Heming Willis, have two children, Mabel (11) and Evelyn (9).

Tallulah now knows, despite her pain and uncertainty, that her father’s unresponsiveness was a result of his worsening health, rather than a reflection of their relationship.
