Osun APC Refutes Claims of Governor Adeleke’s Defection

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has firmly debunked rumors suggesting that Governor Ademola Adeleke has joined the party.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the APC’s spokesperson in Osun, Kola Olabisi, the party urged the public to disregard what it described as deliberate misinformation being peddled by members of the governor’s camp.

Olabisi stated that not only is the claim baseless, but it also reflects a calculated attempt to stir confusion and create false narratives. He emphasized that no pressure had ever come from the presidency regarding Adeleke’s alleged defection and insisted that no such move is being considered by the party at any level.

“There is no truth whatsoever to the rumour that Governor Adeleke has defected to our party,” the statement read. “The claim is entirely fictitious and should be dismissed. The presidency has not issued any directive or applied any form of pressure for such a political switch.”

The APC further pointed out that procedural and constitutional steps must be taken before any defection can occur, none of which have been initiated.

The party also expressed concern over the excitement within Adeleke’s camp, calling it “misguided euphoria” over something that remains nothing more than speculation.

“It’s laughable to think that a sitting governor could join our party without the knowledge and consent of our national and state leadership,” Olabisi noted, referencing APC leaders such as Chief Bisi Akande, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, Tajudeen Lawal, and others.

The statement ended on a firm note, calling the rumors a distraction and reaffirming that the APC remains strong, focused, and unshaken by political antics.
