Oyo Politician Yekini Adeojo Passes Away

Yekini Adeojo, a respected political figure in Oyo State and former governorship candidate, has passed on. He died in the early hours of Friday.

Adeojo, who was originally from the Ido area of Ibadan, once served in the Nigerian Army before venturing into politics. He made his bid for the governorship of Oyo State in 1999 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His legacy continues through his son, Sherif Adeojo, who currently serves as the chairman of Ido Local Government.

In another development within the PDP, former Senate President and party elder Senator Adolphus Wabara has voiced optimism about the party’s future in the South-East.

Speaking in a recent interview, Wabara expressed confidence that the PDP is on track to reclaim its foothold in the region by the 2027 general elections. His confidence was further boosted by the return of Chijioke Edeoga, the Labour Party’s 2023 governorship candidate in Enugu State, back to the PDP.

Wabara described Edeoga’s return as a strong and symbolic gesture, suggesting that the party’s influence is gradually returning to its former strength in the region. While acknowledging that the PDP lost ground in previous elections, he noted that more disenchanted members are beginning to return — a trend he believes will help the party recover its dominance.
