Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, has dropped a major hint that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and ex-President Goodluck Jonathan could be in the running for the 2027 presidential race.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Moro revealed that conversations are ongoing with both men about a possible return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest the nation’s top seat.

According to him, “Ahead of 2027, I’m aware that some individuals are talking to Peter Obi, urging him to come back home. They believe he stands a real chance of flying the party’s flag if he does.”

On the possibility of Jonathan’s return, Moro added, “Yes, some persons are also speaking with the former president. It’s on the table.”

But while speculations continue, Bolaji Abdullahi, spokesperson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), criticized the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for announcing zoning arrangements for their 2027 presidential tickets this early.

He argued that rolling out such plans two years before the elections sends the wrong message to Nigerians, suggesting that political elites are more focused on securing power than addressing the people’s needs.

Abdullahi noted that the move by the two major parties looks like either a carefully scripted game or an attempt to attract specific candidates they already have in mind.
