On Wednesday, journalist Meghann Cuniff published a memo from Los Angeles prosecutors regarding Tory Lanez’s involvement in the 2020 shooting incident with Megan Thee Stallion. The memo suggested a 13-year sentence for Lanez.
One of the concerns mentioned in the document was that Lanez and DaBaby attempted to disrupt Megan Thee Stallion’s performance at Rolling Loud 2021. The memo stated that Lanez breached the security clearance and entered the green room, which was within 100 yards of the stage where Megan was performing, violating a protective order. Megan was unaware of Lanez’s presence and did not consent to his being at the venue during her performance.
Megan felt fearful upon discovering that Lanez was at the venue and within the prohibited area. Media reports surfaced shortly after Lanez’s appearance at Rolling Loud, and when asked about a gag order online, Lanez responded on his Twitter account, indicating a disregard for it.
Following the Rolling Loud incident, the judge overseeing the case increased Lanez’s bail and ordered him not to attend any future events where Megan was present.
In December 2022, Lanez was found guilty of three counts related to the shooting incident: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence. Lanez previously wrote a letter to the district attorney asserting that he was wrongly convicted.
