Donald Trump, in his first public appearance since his conviction, pledged to overturn Joe Biden’s executive order targeting illegal border crossings, highlighting immigration as a key issue for his campaign.
Addressing a crowd in Arizona, a pivotal state, Trump vowed to utilize economic measures, including tariffs, to compel countries to stem the flow of migrants into the United States, particularly via the southern border.
“We have tremendous economic power… if China or some other country is behaving badly, we have things called tariffs that are so severe,” Trump asserted.
The former president, speaking in a sympathetic border state, emphasized the importance of addressing immigration concerns, a sentiment echoed by polls indicating its significance to voters ahead of the upcoming election.
Biden’s recent executive order, aimed at addressing surges in illegal border crossings, received criticism from various quarters. Trump condemned the order, promising to overturn it if re-elected, labeling it as “pro-invasion, pro-child trafficking… pro-drug dealers.”
Trump’s remarks underscored his intention to rescind Biden’s order on his first day back in office and to reverse what he views as the Biden administration’s open-border policies.
