The U.N. peacekeeping force, MINUSMA, reported on Twitter that two peacekeepers from the international organization were murdered and four others suffered critical injuries when their vehicle collided with an IED in northern Mali on Monday.
For the past ten years, Islamist insurgents in northern Mali have been fighting, some of whom have ties to the Islamic State and al Qaeda.
The peacekeeping force stated that the troops were hit while on a mine search and detection patrol in the northern Kidal area commune of Tessalit.
