On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy congratulated King Charles on his coronation and thanked him and the British people for their assistance in the war against Russia.

He called King Charles and his wife, Queen Camilla, “true friends of Ukraine,” and said his reign marked “the beginning of a new era for the British monarchy.”

“I wish King Charles III many years of successful reign, as well as the people of the United Kingdom prosperity and our shared victories,” Zelenskiy said in his nightly video address.

“I appreciate your help!” Thank you to everyone in the United Kingdom!”

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February last year, Britain has been a key Western partner in providing military aid.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry issued a video congratulatory message, thanking “our British friends for your friendship.” We appreciate your unwavering support and collaboration, especially over the last year!”

The one-minute video shows Zelenskiy meeting with King Charles, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Labour leader Keir Starmer, and former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, as well as thanking London for weapons and training thousands of Ukrainian soldiers.

The soundtrack is “London Calling” by British band The Clash.

Olena Zelenskiy, Zelenskiy’s wife, and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal are in London this week to celebrate King Charles’ coronation, which occurred last September following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth.
