The UN Secretary-General has urged Sudan’s fighting forces to observe a cease-fire during the Muslim holiday of Eid, which falls this weekend.
“I believe this is the right time for a ceasefire to be maintained, and this ceasefire is absolutely critical at this time,” Antonio Guterres said.
Earlier in the day, the head of the RSF, one of the conflict’s parties, said he was open to the idea in an interview with Al Jazeera.
