Viola Davis won a Grammy for the audiobook of her memoir, “Finding Me,” giving her the coveted EGOT status — she has won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony Award in her career. Davis is only the 18th person in history to have received all four major entertainment awards.

“I wrote this book to honor 6-year-old Viola,” Davis said in her acceptance speech on Sunday. “To commemorate her life. Her happiness. Everything was a result of her trauma. And it’s been quite a journey. I’ve just got it!”

Davis previously received an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress for “Fences,” an Emmy nomination for her role as Annalise Keating in “How to Get Away with Murder,” and two Tony nominations.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the 57-year-old actress is the third Black woman to receive the honor, following Jennifer Hudson and Whoopi Goldberg. John Legend, Tim Rice, and Andrew Lloyd Webber are among the other well-known EGOT winners.

Davis described her Grammy win as “emotional,” adding that it would have made the younger version of herself very proud.

“My life has really come full circle,” she said after the win in an interview on the red carpet. “I wrote this book in an attempt to reconcile my life and to honor the young Viola. I wanted her to be excited about becoming a 57-year-old, and this is just the icing on the cake.”

“Finding Me: A Memoir,” Davis’ book, delves into her rise to fame, detailing her upbringing in Rhode Island and how she broke into acting in New York City.

Her memoir delves into how she dealt with poverty, bullies, race, sexism, and Hollywood’s impossible beauty standard.
