Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has paid tribute to the pioneers of the Nigerian film industry, celebrating their sacrifices and resilience in shaping what is now one of the biggest entertainment hubs in Africa.

In a reflective post shared on Instagram, the actor recalled the struggles of early filmmakers, emphasizing that the industry was built on sheer determination, passion, and endless hours of hard work.

Using a striking comparison, he said that if Hollywood legend Denzel Washington were to put in the kind of long hours Nollywood actors endure on set, “his skin would turn to charcoal overnight.” For Kanayo, this was a vivid way of highlighting the sweat, tears, and relentless effort that gave birth to the industry.

“Some of us are fortunate to still be in good health,” he noted. “We started at a time when basic production tools like a single 2K light felt like a luxury. That’s how far we’ve come.”

In another development, actress Mo Bimpe faced harsh criticism online after promoting her new movie My Miracle, which premiered on her YouTube channel, MobimpeTV. A troll left offensive comments attacking her over not having children, questioning her womanhood in the process.

Despite the negativity, the actress continues to focus on her craft, using her platform to showcase her creativity and inspire her audience.
