Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), issued a stern warning, stating that corrupt officials from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will face prosecution should John Mahama win the December elections.

Speaking at a 2024 strategy session in Atlanta, USA, Mr. Asiedu Nketia emphasized that the upcoming NDC government would ensure any appointee of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who has misappropriated state funds returns them.

He urged President Akufo-Addo and his associates to relinquish any ill-gotten gains acquired during their tenure and be held accountable for their actions now, or risk facing consequences under an NDC administration.

“Nana Akufo-Addo and his government are akin to someone riding a tiger. If they dismount, they face peril, and if they remain mounted, they suffer hunger. Their concern lies not in relinquishing power but in what follows after their departure,” Mr. Asiedu Nketia remarked.

He continued, “We repeatedly remind them that, for the good of Ghana, we cannot allow anyone to engage in corruption and evade accountability. If that’s their fear, they should prepare themselves. There’s still time to return any embezzled funds or face the repercussions.”

Mr. Asiedu Nketia illustrated his point with an anecdote about an elderly man who guarded his wealth fiercely but ultimately passed away, allowing access to his treasures.

He emphasized the NDC’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s interests and stressed the importance of holding individuals accountable for their service to the country.
