Renowned Nigerian artist Timaya has shared insights into why he has chosen to remain single despite achieving remarkable success in his music career.
Speaking during a recent interview with Naija FM, Timaya revealed that marriage has never been a priority for him. While he hasn’t completely ruled out the idea of getting married someday, he admitted it’s not something he feels naturally drawn to.
“I’ve never been the kind of guy who wants to get married,” Timaya said. “But that could change because, honestly, marriage is complicated. I always wonder—if I get married, will I be able to leave if it doesn’t work out? In all my past relationships, I was the one who walked away because I just don’t like stress.”
Timaya emphasized that his hesitation about marriage is tied to his need for freedom and a stress-free life. For him, open communication and honesty are non-negotiable in any relationship.
“If there’s an issue, let’s talk about it right away. I don’t like going to bed with unresolved problems—it’s too much for me to handle. I need peace of mind,” he explained.
When asked about his role as a father, Timaya shared that his children live with their mothers, but they share a strong bond. He acknowledged that parenting can be challenging but deeply fulfilling.
“I make sure to spend quality time with my kids,” he said. “They often come over to my place for long visits, and those moments are really special to me.”
