Gunmen in South Africa assassinated the widow of a traditional leader who assassinated himself last month.

Charlene Mathews was attacked inside her home early Tuesday, according to Mpumulanga police. Clyde Mnisi, her husband, was scheduled to appear in court later this month to face charges of rhino poaching.

Others, including serving and retired police officers, one of whom worked in the Kruger National Park, are scheduled to appear in court in connection with the alleged poaching.

Five balaclava-clad gunmen shot and killed Chief Mnisi on the side of the road. There have been no arrests.
