The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has pledged to eradicate criminals, terrorists, and bandits from Abuja.
Wike made this commitment on Thursday during the launch of the construction of Paikon-Kore Road in the Gwagwalada area of Abuja. He emphasized that his administration is fully committed to eliminating criminals from the FCT.
“I have assured you before that we are going to take this fight against criminals head-on. Today, you can see that we are not relenting. I promised you that these criminals will flee,” Wike stated.
“We will ensure they have no rest. If they think we will sleep, they too will not sleep. A child who disrupts his mother’s sleep, can he sleep peacefully? So, we are confronting them directly. They should brace themselves; they will encounter fierce resistance.”
Recent incidents saw bandits and other criminal elements attacking communities and abducting residents in some areas of Abuja. In January 2024, kidnappers seized five young sisters in Abuja, tragically claiming the life of Nabeeha when ransom demands were not met within the specified timeframe.
