Wiz Khalifa’s love for smoking caused a stir at a recent festival in Romania. The rapper faced charges of illegal drug possession on Sunday, July 14, after performing at the “Beach, Please!” Festival in Costinesti, a coastal village.

A report from Barron’s revealed that Romanian anti-organized crime prosecutors found over 18 grams of cannabis on Khalifa and witnessed him smoking a handmade cigarette on stage. Despite being escorted off the premises, the “Black and Yellow” artist wasn’t detained. He and several others were questioned but later released.

Khalifa remained upbeat, sharing on Twitter, “Last night’s show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time.”

Fans were quick to react on social media. One user pointed out, “Romania, Dubai, Thailand—these places are great for vacations and affordable surgeries, but they have some outdated laws about weed. Who arrests people over weed? Meaningless arrests have been happening since Paul McCartney’s prime. Glad most of America has woken up and realized this plant isn’t dangerous.”

Another fan noted, “You’ve become much more understanding of people who don’t smoke weed. There was a time when it seemed like you didn’t even want to talk to non-smokers.”

One person commented on Khalifa’s response to the situation: “Honestly, that was a very mature response. I expected you to double down or say something defiant, but agreeing to perform smokeless next time is kinda cool.”

Wiz Khalifa is the latest celebrity to face challenges due to differing cannabis laws abroad. Recently, Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj encountered similar issues while traveling internationally, highlighting the stark contrast between local cannabis culture and regulations.
