The Yagbonwura, Bii-Kunuto Soale Jewu Soale, has lifted the previous ban preventing Samuel Abu Jinapor, the Damongo lawmaker, from visiting any paramountcy in Gonjaland. This change came after a government delegation, including Chieftaincy Minister Stephen Asamoa Boateng, intervened on Jinapor’s behalf.

Earlier, the Yagbonwura had imposed the ban, labeling Jinapor a threat to the peace and unity of Gonjaland. He had explicitly ordered that no chief in the region should permit Jinapor to visit or lead any government officials to their palaces, warning that any chief who disobeyed would face consequences.

The Yagbonwura’s decision was based on Jinapor’s alleged attempts to undermine traditional authority and evade accountability. According to the Yagbonwura, Jinapor’s actions were intended to diminish his authority and public standing.

In a recent statement, Jantonwura Peter Awusi Yakubu, Chief of Sakpala, reiterated the Yagbonwura’s earlier position. He emphasized that the ban was due to Jinapor’s perceived disrespect and insubordination. Yakubu stressed that any chief hosting Jinapor would face serious repercussions.

The situation highlights the complex interplay between traditional leadership and political figures in Gonjaland.
