Davido Calls Out Osun State Police Commissioner Amid Political Crisis

Nigerian Afrobeat artist, Davido, has taken to social media to criticize the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Umar Abba, over the escalating political tensions in the state.

The political unrest stems from a dispute between the current Osun Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and members of the opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC). Tensions rose after sacked local government chairmen, who were elected under the APC banner, attempted to force their way back into office, despite court orders confirming their removal.

Allegations of Chaos and Conspiracy

Governor Adeleke raised alarms on Sunday about an alleged plot to disrupt the peace in Osun State. He accused Gboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, of conspiring with law enforcement agencies, including Commissioner Abba and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), to cause instability.

According to Adeleke, Oyetola and his allies are trying to reinstate the sacked local government chairmen, despite their removal before Adeleke’s inauguration. The governor clarified that these chairmen were dismissed under the previous administration, not through any action of his own.

Violent Clashes and Political Tensions

The political crisis reached a boiling point on Monday when gunshots erupted across various local government secretariats as the sacked chairmen attempted to forcefully re-enter office. Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) resisted their efforts, further escalating the tension.

Davido’s Strong Stand

In response to the turmoil, Davido voiced his frustrations on social media. The singer passionately called out Commissioner Abba, urging him to uphold the rule of law and warning him not to provoke the public further. In a series of posts on his X account, Davido expressed his anger, declaring that the situation was unacceptable and that the people would not tolerate any actions that threatened the stability of the state.

Davido’s strong stance highlights the growing dissatisfaction with the current political crisis in Osun and his determination to speak out against perceived injustices.
