Yusuf Buhari, son of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, shared heartfelt words of gratitude during a special session of the Federal Executive Council held in Abuja. The gathering was organized to honour the memory of the late leader, and Yusuf took the opportunity to thank President Bola Tinubu for the respect and recognition shown to his father.

Accompanied by his siblings, Yusuf expressed deep appreciation for the state burial and the outpouring of support from the presidency. He said President Tinubu’s gesture reflected more than political courtesy—it reflected a bond of genuine friendship and respect.

“He wasn’t just seen as a politician,” Yusuf said, “but also as a friend and a father figure.”

He went on to extend his thanks to members of the National Assembly, the Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and other governors who played a role in honouring his father’s legacy.

In a moving tribute, he added, “Your visits, your prayers, your kind words—they meant a great deal to us. This support gave us strength in our moment of loss.”

Closing his remarks with emotion, Yusuf turned to President Tinubu and simply said, “Thank you, Daddy. May Allah bless, protect, and guide you always.”
