The former US president’s channel was suspended after Jan. 6 riots in 2021 for ‘violating’ its policies
YouTube lifted restrictions on former US President Donald Trump’s account on Friday, which had been suspended two years ago following the Jan. 6 attack on the US Capitol.
“We carefully evaluated the continued risk of real-world violence while balancing voters’ ability to hear equally from major national candidates in the run-up to an election,” YouTube said in a statement.
“This channel, like any other channel on YouTube, will continue to be subject to our policies,” it added.
YouTube was one of the social media platforms that suspended Trump’s accounts following the deadly Jan. 6, 2021 riot, claiming that his channel “violated” their policies.
Previously, Facebook and Twitter restored the former president’s accounts.
