Nigerian music star and Grammy nominee David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared why he chose Akwa Ibom as the first stop for his concert in Nigeria after 14 years on stage — and it all comes down to the state’s world-class facilities.

Speaking at a pre-concert reception hosted by Governor Umo Eno and Senate President Godswill Akpabio in Uyo, Davido revealed that Akwa Ibom stood out when his team was searching for the perfect location in Africa to kick off his tour.

According to him, Akwa Ibom’s beauty, organization, and hospitality made the decision easy. He praised the state for setting a standard others could learn from, adding that if every state in Nigeria was like Akwa Ibom, touring across the country would be a breeze.

“When we were looking around Africa, five places came up — and Akwa Ibom was right at the top,” he said. “A lot of people are flying in from other states because they don’t have facilities like this. The stadium here is amazing, and that’s why we’re starting our tour here. I’m so excited to see it filled up tonight — we’re about to shut it down.”

Davido also applauded Governor Eno for creating opportunities for young people and maintaining peace and progress in the state.

With his Akwa Ibom concert marking a major milestone in his career, Davido made it clear that this was more than just another show — it was a celebration of excellence, unity, and the power of good leadership.
