A Zimbabwean high court has blocked the release of electronic voter rolls to the public, citing national security concerns that the document would be manipulated.
This follows a court case filed by opposition MP Allan Makharm after the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) refused to provide him with a copy of the election results he requested in October of last year.

The MP stated that the electronic version was ideal for scrutiny because the printed version would be inconvenient and costly for him.
However, the Harare High Court ruled on Tuesday that the voters’ roll was too sensitive to be released to the public without addressing Zec’s security concerns.
According to the court, the electoral commission was mandated to protect the electoral roll from manipulation and abuse.
Zimbabwe will hold general elections in July.
