On Tuesday, the NBA unveiled the court for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game, laying the groundwork for this weekend’s festivities inspired by Utah’s beauty and bright future, infused with the kinetic energy of the world’s premier basketball league.
The court has been painted in the colors of the host team, the Utah Jazz. It is mostly black and white, with bright yellow accents, and is stylized to represent the region’s transformation into a global technology hub.
The hardwood also has a design of five mountains. The touch is offered in honor of Utah’s renowned mountains, which have been featured on Jazz uniforms for decades, as well as an homage to both the league’s greatest stars and Utah’s rise on the global stage.
According to the designers, the number is a nod to the five players who appear on the court for NBA teams each game.
Jordan Brand previously released the All-Star Game uniforms, which featured colors reminiscent of the evening Utah sky, as well as the red, burnt orange, and yellow hues of the mountains and golden sunset.
The teams will be selected in a draft just before the game on Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. ET, with captains LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo selecting their teams pick by pick.
According to NBA Cares, nearly $1 million will be donated to local charities through the game in the hopes of assisting local children and families. Team Giannis will compete in support of Raise the Future, an organization that helps adopted children and their families in the Salt Lake area. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah, which connects at-risk youth with mentors, will be represented by Team LeBron.
Throughout the weekend, special concerts and pop-up shops will be held across the city, as part of a series of events designed by multi-platinum rapper Travis Scott.
