The Minority in Parliament has proposed that the resignation of both President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia could offer greater benefits to Ghana than the recent ministerial reshuffle.

According to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), this bold suggestion stems from the belief that a complete change in leadership is necessary to effectively address the nation’s challenges.

Minority Leader Cassiel Ato Forson stressed that such a move is crucial for alleviating the suffering and hardship faced by Ghanaians.

In a statement issued on February 14, 2024, Dr. Forson reiterated the NDC Minority’s stance that the best solution to address the plight of Ghanaians would be for both President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Alhaji Bawumia to step down.

“For instance, he resisted the call for the immediate resignation of outgoing Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta by nearly 100 NPP Members of Parliament,” Forson pointed out, highlighting the President’s consistent reluctance and defiance during discussions about a reshuffle.

“The suffering of Ghanaians demands bold and transformative action, and we believe the resignation of both the President and Vice President is the way forward,” urged Forson, stressing the urgency of considering this proposal to bring relief to citizens and drive positive change in the country.

On February 14, President Akufo-Addo announced a ministerial reshuffle, which saw Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta relieved of his duties, along with changes affecting 13 current ministers of state, including 10 cabinet ministers and two regional ministers.
