President Nana Akufo-Addo shared a meal with the Black Stars during a farewell dinner before their departure for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in the Ivory Coast.

On Tuesday evening, the president visited Kumasi and joined the team at their camp to convey his best wishes ahead of the tournament.

The president encouraged the team, emphasizing the full support of Ghanaians. He urged them to give their best and make the country proud, assuring that the government, in collaboration with the GFA, has taken all necessary steps to facilitate their success.

In the upcoming AFCON, the Black Stars face a challenging group in Group B, competing against Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Verde.

Despite Chris Hughton’s side entering the tournament with a recent dip in performance, having not secured a win in their last two matches, there’s optimism and anticipation surrounding their potential turnaround.

Ghana experienced a frustrating goalless draw at the Baba Yara Stadium on Monday in a pre-AFCON friendly against Namibia. This outcome adds to the challenge for the West Africans, who are eager to break a 42-year trophy drought as they head to the Ivory Coast.

In the upcoming AFCON campaign, the Black Stars will commence their journey against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, 2024. The anticipation is high as the team aims to make a significant impact in the tournament.
