Eight Arsenal fans who were arrested in the Ugandan city of Jinja after celebrating the club’s English Premier League victory over Manchester United have been released.
They were arrested on Monday while wearing the club’s red jersey and carrying a symbolic trophy.
According to the police, they did not have a permit to hold the procession, which is a public order violation. However, a joint security team agreed on Tuesday to release them with caution, according to James Mubi, the regional police spokesman.
One of the fans told journalists that they would “seek permission [to celebrate]if Arsenal wins the premier league”. “The celebrations will take place in Bugembe stadium,” the self-proclaimed Arsenal ambassador in Uganda added.

The police spokesman claimed that the fans didn’t know the basics about the club, such as which year Arsenal went unbeaten and that they had named a former Ugandan goalkeeper as an Arsenal player.
