Ashionye Michelle Raccah has just scored a career milestone — landing a role in one of Netflix’s biggest shows, Wednesday. The Nollywood actress makes her mark in Season 2’s third episode, “Call of the Woe,” where she plays a minister officiating the funeral of former sheriff Donovan Galpin.
Taking to Instagram, Ashionye shared her excitement with fans:
“It’s showtime! #WednesdaySeason2 — catch me as the minister in episode 3. Filming on the set of Wednesday was such an incredible experience. Directed by Paco Cabezas in a Tim Burton production. And yes, I have proof that Wednesday smiles… sometimes. It was a joy to share a scene with @jennaortega.”
Her “proof” came with behind-the-scenes photos — one alongside Jenna Ortega in full Wednesday Addams mode, and another with Thandiwe Newton and Luyanda Unati Lewis–Nyawo.
Gushing over Newton, Ashionye wrote:
“I’ve admired Thandiwe Newton for years, so getting to chat with her between takes about work and family was surreal. The humility… A true superstar.”
For those new to the series, Wednesday follows the iconic Wednesday Addams at Nevermore Academy, a school for outcasts, where she develops her psychic abilities, unravels dark mysteries, and confronts family secrets. Season 2 sees her trying to reclaim her powers after a vision warns of her friend Enid’s potential death.
With over two decades of acting experience in films like Journey to Self, Kpians: The Feast of Souls, Hell or High Water, and Breath of Life, Ashionye’s step into a Tim Burton universe marks another proud moment in her career. She also stands out as the only Nigerian actor in this season’s cast, joining the ranks of Nollywood talents breaking into global productions — like Diana Yekini (Heart of Stone) and Somkele Iyamah–Idhalama (Star Trek: Discovery).
