Following initial reports of a nearly fatal accident on New York’s streets, the NYPD issued a statement detailing what happened with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s SUV. The New York City Police Department revealed that at least ix paparazzi car was spotted dangerously chasing the royal couple as they exited the Women of Vision Award ceremony at around 10 p.m. on Tuesday. The statement from Prince Harry’s spokesperson implies that someone was injured during a two-hour car chase. However, the NYPD wanted to clarify that no one was hurt during the car chase.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg also confirmed that he was briefed on the incident, in which two NYPD officers may have been seriously injured. But, at the end of the day, no one was harmed. Adams reminded the press that remembering how Princess Diana died was not necessary. He goes on to urge active paparazzi to always prioritize public safety over money shots. Adams also pointed out that Manhattan is only a small part of a large city. This invariably makes transportation more difficult than in other cities. There are more details about what happened after the frantic car chase, which the NYPD provided to the media.

NBC News also revealed that Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and her mother were taken to the 19th Precinct and remained there for 15 minutes. Following that, they were escorted to a taxi and returned to their original destination. The NYPD issued the following statement: “There were a lot of photographers, which made transportation difficult.” The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived safely at their destination, with no reported collisions, summonses, injuries, or arrests.”
