Inusah Fuseini, former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, has accused Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of fabricating the circumstances surrounding his father’s death, raising doubts about Bawumia’s credibility.
Bawumia had highlighted advancements in Ghana’s healthcare system, including the world’s largest medical drone delivery service run by Ghanaian youth, during his presentation of his vision for the country ahead of the 2024 election in Accra.
He shared the emotional ordeal of his father undergoing surgery at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, recalling a desperate situation where his father needed blood during the night, but the blood bank was closed, leading to his father’s passing by morning.
Moved by this experience, Bawumia expressed determination to implement Zipline’s drone technology in Ghana to prevent unnecessary deaths.
However, Inusah Fuseini contested Bawumia’s account, stating that Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia passed away from natural causes rather than the illness described by Dr. Bawumia.
He accused Bawumia of deceiving the public and emphasized the importance of trust in politics, suggesting that Bawumia’s reputation for dishonesty undermines his suitability for political office.
Fuseini made these remarks during an interview on Citi TV on February 11, 2024, asserting that the vice president’s credibility is increasingly in question due to his tendency to mislead the public.
