Former Big Brother Naija star, Adekunle Olapade, has shared his thoughts on the challenges many reality show participants face after the spotlight fades.

According to him, most housemates end up struggling once the show ends because Nigeria doesn’t have a strong reality TV structure that supports their growth.

Adekunle noted that although Big Brother Naija is the biggest reality show in Africa, there’s barely a clear path to success for its participants after the season wraps up.

Taking to Instagram, he wrote, “BBN is the biggest reality TV show in Africa, but Nigeria doesn’t have a Reality TV culture. There’s no defined success path after the show, and many of the stars suffer because of it.”

His post stirred a mix of opinions from fans.

When one user suggested that housemates should simply return to their previous jobs, Adekunle clarified that many contestants joined the show to escape unemployment and create new opportunities.

He explained, “A lot of the cast didn’t have 9–5 jobs before the show. They went on the show hoping to change their story. Only a few had stable jobs or businesses before entering. Still, going back to one’s former life isn’t a bad idea if things don’t work out.”
