The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has released the lineup of officials set to oversee the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and South Africa.
Nigeria and South Africa, the powerhouses in Group C of the qualifiers, have encountered some bumps in the road during the initial stages of the campaign, with Nigeria currently holding the third position and South Africa sitting in second place.
The upcoming clash between the two teams at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, June 7, carries significant weight, as both sides aim for a crucial victory to bolster their standing in the qualification series.
CAF has designated Chadian referee Alhadi Allaou Mahamat as the center referee for the match. With a wealth of experience, Mahamat has officiated numerous high-profile games, including those in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup. He also participated in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast.
Assisting Mahamat will be Mohammed Ibrahim Abdallah from Sudan as assistant referee 1, Abelmiro Dos Reis Monte Negro from Sao Tome & Principe as assistant referee 2, and Pousri Armi Alfred from Chad as the fourth official.
Egyptian Ahmed Sayed Abou Elela will serve as the referee assessor, while Munkaila Nassam Adam from Ghana will act as the match commissioner for the game.
