In the past year, Cardi B has taken her legal battle with Tasha K, also known as LaTasha Kebe, to a new level. With Tasha K already owing around $4 million to the “WAP” artist for defamation damages, Cardi B is determined to ensure she receives the owed amount. In an effort to secure her compensation, Cardi B reportedly asked for extensive financial records, including tax returns and wire transfers.
Recent news from VIBE (as of August 30) has reported that the rap sensation has issued subpoenas to various financial institutions, including Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Discover Financial, and American Express. The purpose behind this move appears to be a careful examination of Tasha K’s financial history, particularly since her bankruptcy filing in May. If true, this legal action is part of a larger endeavor to verify Tasha K’s financial transparency.

The same source also pointed out that Cardi B informed the judge overseeing the case about these subpoenas. Allegedly, the documents requested access to a comprehensive range of Tasha K’s financial activities. This includes account statements, records of deposits and withdrawals, as well as information about wire transfers.
The ongoing legal feud between Cardi B and Tasha K traces back to January 2022 when Tasha K was found liable for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Initially, the host of “Unwine With Tasha K” was ordered to pay almost $3 million. However, after her appeal was unsuccessful, the judge increased the amount, commanding her to pay an additional $1 million.
Tasha K filed for bankruptcy in May, claiming assets of less than $60,000. However, many perceived this move as an attempt to avoid the substantial seven-figure payout. Undeterred, Cardi B appears to be resolute in her pursuit of what is rightfully owed to her.
In recent developments reported by XXL last week, Tasha K proposed setting up quarterly payments to settle the lawsuit. Her reimbursement plan suggests giving Cardi B a total of $222,000 over 20 periodic installments, effectively resolving the defamation lawsuit.
