Chelsea’s Tosin Adarabioyo Visits Governor Sanwo-Olu Ahead of Youth Football Match in Lagos
Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo made a stop in Lagos on Tuesday as part of his visit to Nigeria, paying a courtesy call on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu ahead of a youth football tournament being held in his honour.
The friendly meeting took place just before the event scheduled for Wednesday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena. Governor Sanwo-Olu later shared a warm message on Instagram, praising the 27-year-old for his success abroad and his deep connection to his Nigerian heritage.
“Tosin Adarabioyo, who plays for Chelsea, stopped by during his time in Nigeria,” the governor wrote. “It’s always inspiring to meet young Nigerians doing well on the global stage while still staying close to home.”
Born in London to Nigerian parents, Adarabioyo has featured for England’s youth teams but hasn’t yet made a senior appearance—leaving fans hopeful for a future with the Super Eagles.
Most recently, he was part of Chelsea’s squad that lifted the revamped FIFA Club World Cup in the United States. Over time, he’s expressed interest in representing Nigeria at the senior level, and many see this visit as a step in that direction.
His homecoming has not only sparked excitement among fans but also highlights his commitment to youth development and his desire to give back.
