In a statement issued on Sunday, the Chinese embassy in the United Kingdom urged London to stop slandering and smearing China in order to avoid further damage to China-UK relations.

This comes after British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak stated that China is the world’s greatest threat to security and prosperity, but that other leading economies should not decouple from it following a Group of Seven (G7) summit.

“The relevant remarks by the British side are simply paraphrasing others’ words and amount to malicious slander in disregard of the facts.” “China strongly opposes and condemns this,” the embassy said in a statement.
