Thousands of people in Ethiopia’s Tigray region have protested for the return of residents who fled during the recent two-year war.
A peace agreement signed in November between pro-government forces and Tigrayan fighters put an end to the fighting.
However, a long-standing land dispute between Tigray and Amhara, exacerbated by the conflict, remained unresolved.
Tigrayans claim that the presence of Amhara officials prevents them from returning home.
Protesters in Mekelle, Adigrat, and Shire called for humanitarian aid as well as the withdrawal of Amhara forces and Eritrean troops.
Last week, the regional government leader in Tigray stated that Eritrean soldiers were still present.
The BBC is unable to confirm their presence.
