Chlöe Bailey is unconcerned about the backlash surrounding her “Swarm” sex scene.

The singer-actress nearly broke the internet with her intimate scene in Donald Glover’s Prime Video series with Damson Idris, which shocked some viewers. Beyoncé’s 24-year-old protégée responded to the controversy during her visit to “Big Boy’s Neighborhood” by defending her artistic freedom.

“I’m an actress, and I feel like it’s all about art,” Chlöe explained. “When I first got the script, I was like [gasp]! It was insane and beautiful, and I believe people are forgetting the plot of that scene. It’s not about seeing myself in that scene’s mirror. But I think the fact that it’s me doing it is what blows it out of proportion. But I’m only visible for two seconds.”

Chlöe’s character Marissa and her boyfriend Khalid (Idris) are seen having sex in the first few minutes of the first episode, while Dominique Fishback’s Dre watches through an open door. Fans shared their surprised reactions to the video, while others criticized Chlöe’s decision to participate in the racy scene.

“I work as an actress.” I was doing my job, and I think people need to remember that I’m an adult and an artist,” Chlöe added, noting that she didn’t reveal anything new. “There was nothing seen that they hadn’t seen from me.” You didn’t see anything, not even a nipple.”

Big Boy inquired as to whether her co-star Damson Idris faced the same backlash. “I don’t think so,” she said, “because he’s a man.”

Chlöe addressed the controversy surrounding her Chris Brown-assisted single “How Does It Feel” in an interview with Bryhana on Power 106. When the collaboration was announced, Kiely Williams, a former 3LW member, criticized Chlöe’s decision to collaborate with Chris by bringing up his history with Rihanna.

“I just let the music speak for itself,” Chlöe explained. “When the song was released, people liked it. That’s what I’ll keep doing.”

Chlöe is not deterred by her detractors. Next Friday, she will release her debut album In Pieces, which will feature Future and Missy Elliott.
