Manchester United is preparing to extend the contract of their coach, Erik ten Hag, following a series of discussions. According to the UK Mirror, the club has offered Ten Hag a two-year contract extension worth £27 million, which the Dutchman is expected to accept.
Ten Hag originally signed a three-year deal with Manchester United before the 2022-2023 season, earning £9 million per season. Despite a mixed first season, where the team qualified for the 2023-2024 UEFA Champions League but later exited in the group stage and failed to secure a top-four finish, Ten Hag’s leadership led the club to win the FA Cup. This success contributed to United’s decision to retain him despite some calls for his dismissal.
The new contract will keep Ten Hag at Old Trafford until June 30, 2027. In this new phase, he is expected to collaborate with former United player Ruud van Nistelrooy, who will take on the role of head coach while Ten Hag remains the club’s manager. The deal is anticipated to be finalized soon as Manchester United gears up for their pre-season tour.
