The Lagos State Police Command has issued an arrest warrant for a doctor named Idara Bassey following the tragic death of a 36-year-old woman, Abiola, during a buttocks enhancement procedure at a clinic in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed this development on Thursday.

Reports indicate that Abiola visited the clinic for a buttocks enhancement, known as a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). Unfortunately, things took a tragic turn when a nurse, reportedly following Dr. Bassey’s instructions, administered an injection that caused Abiola to lose consciousness.

The BBL procedure, which involves transferring fat from other areas of the body to the buttocks for a fuller look, is known to carry certain risks. Despite the potential dangers, the procedure continues to be popular, with many women in Lagos sharing their successful outcomes online.

According to The Punch, Abiola had left her home in Diamond Estate, Sangotedo, in Ibeju Lekki on Monday, instructing her driver to take her to the clinic. The driver, who was present during the procedure, informed the police that Abiola suddenly lost consciousness and began struggling to breathe after the nurse administered the injection.

The nurse involved has been arrested, but the clinic’s owner, Dr. Bassey, is currently on the run. Hundeyin confirmed that the doctor has been declared wanted and is a key suspect in the ongoing investigation.
