Nigeria will bid farewell today to its legendary music icon, Onyeka Onwenu, affectionately known as the “Elegant Stallion.” The beloved artist passed away on July 30, 2024, at the age of 72 after suddenly collapsing during an event honoring Dr. Stella Okoli, the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.
Following the incident, she was rushed to Reddington Hospital in Ikeja, where she sadly passed away.
Her family has announced that the funeral service will be held at the Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, Lagos. Afterward, she will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at a vault in Ikoyi, according to reports from CKN News.
The Service of Songs, as detailed in a funeral flyer released by the family, will begin at 10:00 AM and continue until noon, with the burial scheduled between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
Onyeka Onwenu was a remarkable figure in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, known for her talents not only as a singer but also as a broadcaster, actress, politician, and activist.
Her legacy lives on through her timeless music and the impact she made as an activist. She is survived by her two sons.
