In the midst of heightened tensions in the Middle East, we’re dedicated to providing you with updates from various regions, and the latest news comes from Syria.

A drone attack targeted the largest US military base, resulting in the deaths of at least six fighters from a Kurdish-led militia force aligned with the US.

According to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which played a crucial role in the US-led coalition’s victory against the Islamic State group in eastern Syria, the attack occurred at its commando academy located in an oil field in an eastern province. The drone was reportedly launched from territory controlled by the Syrian government.

The SDF’s initial investigation points to Iran-backed militias as the perpetrators of this “terrorist act”.

Reports from UK-based monitors indicate that seven SDF commandos lost their lives, with 18 others sustaining injuries. This incident marks the 108th militia attack on US bases in Syria since mid-October.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a coalition of Iraqi militias supported by Iran, claimed responsibility for the drone strike targeting the US occupation base at the al-Omar oil field. This group also claimed responsibility for the drone strike on the US Tower 22 base on the Jordanian side of the Syrian border on January 28, which resulted in the deaths of three US soldiers. In response, the US conducted a series of airstrikes on facilities belonging to Iranian forces and Iran-backed militias in Syria and Iraq.
